Hamilton: Brutal Beauty, Hidden Heritage Bike Tour #1 Hamilton: Brutal Beauty, Hidden Heritage Bike Tour #1 was Saturday, September 27 at 1:30pm. This event was also part of Culture Days 2014. The first in a series of bicycle tours of Hamilton: Brutal Beauty, Hidden Heritage occurred Saturday, September 27, from 1:30pm to approx. 4:00pm. One of Hamilton's unique "bicycle freeways" forms the spine of this tour, offering a gentle ride up Hamilton Mountain along a former freight rail line. Along the way, author Ian Dunlop provided insights on Hamilton's infrastructure and transportation history. This tour was 18km long, and ended with a social gathering at the Corktown Pub. The format of these tours is informal. There is no cost to participate and you do so at your own risk. Most tours are along city-maintained recreation trails, with a some rough unofficial trail sections, and along some streets with moderate to heavy traffic. Please bring your own water/refreshments (we'll stop for a break part way along), and please wear a helmet. Details will be posted in advance, about one month before the next tour date. |
